Fendi 2006 Spring Summer

With an emphasis on femininity, the female form is celebrated in Fendi’s latest collection. The focal point is the fitted waist, which is accentuated by Fendi’s latest signature look, a nipped-in belt with a big buckle that is either worn high or cinched tight. Dress upon dress feature feminine layers and ruffles that flutter and flow with every step while the fit and flared silhouette is reminiscent of the ladylike glamour of a bygone era. Hemlines demurely skim the knee while necklines are kept high for elegant modesty. Poodle skirts made a comeback while blousers and tops feature prim and proper sleeves that are either in graceful ¾ length or pouffy capped versions.

Fendi’s colour palette kick started with pristine white dresses and then contrasted sharply with striking black separates of skirts and tops. The audience was then greeted with a burst of bold primary colours – canary yellow to scarlet red. Fabrics ranged from gossamer georgette, lightweight crepe de chine and silky mousseline. The collection also saw laser cut doily decorations on shiny patent leather, three dimensional honey-comb effect and hand cut appliqués like clusters of wisteria blossoms.
