Dolce & Gabbana Design Military and Colonial Looks for Fall
For Fall 2006 Ready-to-Wear, Dolce & Gabbana reach back into the Colonial Era (think here, “The Redcoats are coming!”) and revisit the militaristic coats, pants, and jackets that soldiers wore when Britain still had its clutches on American soil.

But the collection isn’t entirely about the American Revolution. D&G never fail to re-invent classic feminine styles like the scoop-neck empire waist gown with embroidered tassel.
Embroidery and embellishment on lush velour, gabardine, and silk was the overall theme for the collection, and colors were more austere with whites, grays, blacks, and muted gold and silver.
Brass buttons, golden fringe for lining, and tassels all made the clothing tailored and sleek. Pants and jackets were form fitting, and dresses lingered around knee-length.
Tall boots with square heels definitely are the perfect shoe match for this D&G collection. You just can’t march correctly in stilettos. Flats work nicely with the dresses.

And don’t think that form and structure has made D&G lose any of its sex appeal. A black see-through mesh gown embellished with beads and gems looks daring enough for a red-carpet appearance in the future. But more likely to win the fashion critics’ approval is the empire-waist strapless flowing white gown. The black buckle and gold ornamentation could remind one of Helen of Troy or any goddess of war.
To wear an item from this D&G collection, ladies must remember their posture. Walking tall is always a fashion must.
