Chaiken Keeps It Back to Basics
Chaiken might not be the most well-known designer on the American shores, but the designer certainly knows how to appeal to the timeless tastes of many women from all cultures. Take the dresses, first of all: From a classic A-line black dress that just falls at the knees to the collared and long-sleeved little red number that is definitely professional, these are ready for day or night, summer or fall.

This designer is all about the tailoring, too. A black pantsuit is neither retro or a fashion faux pas. Paired with a white blouse, it’s that classic combination that can work at any time, any age.

Chaiken also takes care of the winter blues with black leggings paired with a sleeveless black mini-dress. Although I would advise wearing a coat over this one until the evening after-hours cocktail, it can still work for a daytime jaunt, especially in the Big Apple.

And Chaiken pairs neutral colors with basic black in coats and skirts. This double breasted camel-hair colored coat with flared sleeves has to be my favorite piece in the collection, simply because it combines a very fitted breast and waist with flowing sleeves. The visual contrast says it all: basics can be updated and new to the eye.

That red dress is divine. I would love to have that for the winter to wear with high boots.
