The Space Age is Now

Citing Paco Rabanne’s metallic Barbarella creations (1968) and designer Andre Courreges’s silver and white moon girl collection (1964), designers are going back to the future for this season’s out-of-this-world micro minis, reflective accents and sky-high heels. At Etro, Lanvin and Dolce & Gabbana (pictured), it was mini frocks in metallica, mod black-and-white and reflective armor that defined the trend.

D&G Lucite WedgeUntil this season’s ready-to-wear showings, clear accessories could be found only in establishments called Scores or Crazy Horse. But, thanks to such high fashion frontrunners as Pucci, Chanel and YSL, there is a window of opportunity for the designer-clad and fully-clothed set to sport the transparent trend. From the Lucite-and-patent-paired platforms at Dolce & Gabbana to the luxe, leather-trimmed totes at Fendi, today’s see-through extras are surprisingly chic and not-so-surprisingly sexy. Just remember- when matching sheer shoes to a peek-a-boo bag, keep your small bills stashed in a wallet. You wouldn’t want to confuse anyone.

Dolce & Gabbana Design Military and Colonial Looks for Fall

For Fall 2006 Ready-to-Wear, Dolce & Gabbana reach back into the Colonial Era (think here, “The Redcoats are coming!”) and revisit the militaristic coats, pants, and jackets that soldiers wore when Britain still had its clutches on American soil.

But the collection isn’t entirely about the American Revolution. D&G never fail to re-invent classic feminine styles like the scoop-neck empire waist gown with embroidered tassel.
Embroidery and embellishment on lush velour, gabardine, and silk was the overall theme for the collection, and colors were more austere with whites, grays, blacks, and muted gold and silver.

Breathless on Bluefly

I recently found the online store, Bluefly (Shop Designer Styles for Her at Bluefly!) and was much more than overwhelmed by their vast and FABULOUS designer shoe collection. I barely had energy left in me to browse the handbags after clicking and clicking, gasping, with my pulse racing!

I am not kidding. I had to go and take a relaxing bubble bath, afterward. While my heart may have not been in any actual danger, my mind was in a tizzy, and I just could not take the excitement! Dolce & Gabbana camel snakeskin pumps

Perhaps the most heart-pumping shoes, to look at, that I found, were these Dolce & Gabbana Camel Snakeskin Pumps. Who knew that two animal prints in one shoe would look so fabulous? The fact that the leopard print is inside the shoe only means it is classier and more special. It is SUCH a treat to look at, no, to stare and gaze lovingly at.

Not only is the leather rich and beautiful, but the heel is a wonderful height for an elegant look. Don’t let your eye skip the detail in the smooth curves from arch to heel to the back of the shoe. Oh, my, such the sighs from this shoe.

Oy! Just from writing this and finding this shoe for you, I have the hiccups! I am in over my head. Whew, I need some water.
